ISR Best Practices

Intended Deployment: The new ISR-4 and ISR-2 intelligent surface remote controls are designed to function as room controllers within the RTI ecosystem. As room controllers, they can manage all sources within the same room while also controlling global sources like lighting, thermostats, and more””just like any RTI room controller.

Wi-Fi Connectivity Best Practices

The new ISR-4 and ISR-2 are Wi-Fi-based remote controllers operating on the 2.4GHz frequency. They feature a low-power IoT instant-connect Wi-Fi module, ensuring near-instantaneous network connectivity while maximizing battery life. The ISRs support connecting to a single SSID for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, including access points with band-steering. However, with certain networking brands, band-steering may require the ISRs to be directed to the 2.4GHz band and potentially restricted from accessing the 5GHz band. If connectivity issues arise with a dual-band SSID, best practice is to disable band-steering or configure a fixed 2.4GHz connection to the desired access point.
